Patternity is the world’s Leading specialist organisation dedicated solely to pattern.

Founded in 2009 by ‘cult pattern pioneers’ photographer/art director Anna Murray and surface/product designer Grace Winteringham, PATTERNITY was born from a drive to use pattern as a tool to inspire, explore and innovate. For autumn winter 2014 PATTERNITY have teamed up with Clarks Originals for a second season to design two brand new takes on the Clarks Desert Boot, this time a sharp monochrome micro-print has been applied to Nathan Clark’s Desert Boot resulting in an exciting reinvention of a classic.

Building on their new interpretation of the Desert Boot, PATTERNITY have taken a look at Originals through their specialist lens. Through the medium of film they tell the unique story of the discovery of the Desert Boot – contrasting the old and the new, layering historical footage and narrative from Nathan Clark over PATTERNITY photography and moving image. Inspired by the past, present and future of Originals – PATTERNITY focus on pattern as the theme for inspiration and innovation – taking viewers on a powerful voyage of pattern discovery and exploration…

PATTERNITY have been acclaimed as ‘…resolutely non-cliché…’, and their specially created micro-patterns help to put an ultra-modern spin on Nathan Clark’s timeless classic.
